Tony Wilson - Cultural Catalyst.

Recently saw this and thought it was a nice touch - Factory Records founder Anthony H Wilson died in August 2007. Just over three years later, a memorial headstone designed collaboratively by Wilson's long-term associates Peter Saville and Ben Kelly was unveiled in The Southern Cemetery in Chorlton-Cum-Hardy, Manchester. The black granite headstone carries a quote, chosen by Wilson's family, from The Manchester Man, the 1876 novel by Mrs G Linnaeus Banks.

Weir 3.

For those of us who like our hats funky, The Casual Connoisseur have just this minute released the third installment of the popular limited edition 'Weir' bobble hat, available in three different colours and for just a score. If the past two years were anything to go by, these won't hang around for long. Weir 3

A look inside Present.

There's some very cool stores around our capital as you may have already seen on here recently, here we continue with a look inside Present on Shoreditch High Street thanks to our man with the cam, Open all week and even somewhere you can grab a brew (well, a coffee) this is London. Present uses it's space well, a very smart looking store set in an original Golden Horn Cigarette store, stocking a wide selection of brands, boots and books and mags from across the world, from home grown Heritage Research, Trickers and Cabourn to Nanamica, Wings and Horns and Crescent Down Works.

Son of a Stag.

Whether you are a full on denim nerd or just someone who takes more than a bit of pride in your strides, this is a store you should visit. Situated down London's trendy Brick Lane - The Old Truman Brewery, Son of a Stag boasts to be the capital's best denim store, carrying the likes of Levis LVC, Lee, Edwin, Wrangler, Studio, Allevol, Kuro and Spellbound along with the more obscure and exclusively stocked imports amongst their premium denim range, sat alongside some of the best shoes and boots. Their stock and knowledge aside, what makes this store stand out is the in house chain stitch service on offer utilising original Union Special chainstitch machines with original threads so you can get your jeans hemmed the proper way whilst you have a browse.

Recent Pick-ups.

Some more buys over the last couple of months, I've not won the pools or 'owt, I started this post in like, early September. Stansfield patchwork work shirt via Daniel Jenkins and their lovely old fashioned packaging. Bargainous.

Ralph Lauren custom fit club shirt, what can be better than a nice chambray shirt? a chambray shirt with a club collar, dapper.

Benetton long sleeve polo, and red woolly hat, I picked these up from the Oxford Circus store, I could have picked a lot more bits up but do you know those nuisance late customers staff wait to fuck off so they can shut? that was me. I like Benetton, it's like an Italian M&S and as high street as they come, but seemingly only available over here in London and Truro.

'Pastel Pete' shirt, a rather funky shirt via tuktuk, nice for a splash of colour.

A Japanese made American hunting vest by Newco, I know, I know I'm the least likely person to go and fill innocent young ducks with lead, but it's quite interesting, it has a large rubber bag attached to the back for dead, soggy animals, nice. Never gonna wear it, never gonna wear it...

Fjällräven Greenland, their classic jacket which I've just rewaxed, as said previously it's now gone Fjall circle, we were wearing it before it went to Tedsville anyway.

Another classic revisited, the Barbour Thornproof Beaufort in sage, I've had several waxy Barbours and even though they smell like Emmerdale, you can't go wrong.

OP's and GK's The Rig Out.
Some more new cards, Bateman's gonna piss when he sees these, again!

What's that smell? I'll tell you, it's that unmistakable stench of vintage goretex. Recently got hold of another vintage REI Co-op goretex parka (above) via Utah's city of trees, Pleasant Grove, I hope that's as nice as it sounds. You should know by now that I'm happiest in some good old fashioned outdoorsy wear. This is the fourth REI I've had and it's one fine specimen, pockets and details in all the right places.

Trunk.

Trunk clothiers opened their doors last month in London's Marylebone, offering exclusive brands in store such as American staple J. Crew, cult Japanese brand Beams+ as well as handpicked brands from Italy, Sweden, Canada and Japan, such as Porter, Aspesi, Woolrich Woolen Mills and Common Projects. Managed by Mats Klingberg, the store set over two levels is an inviting space, with a real neighbourhood feel, well laid out with a minimal approach complimenting it's highly considered stock in store.
This sees the start of a new collaboration with new best cyber buddy - photographer Richard Johnson who paid the store a visit over the weekend, big thanks to Richard for these great photos.
